FAQ
What size should my source PNG be?
At least 48×48 pixels. Ideally 256×256 or larger and square. Larger sources downscale cleanly to icon sizes.
What if my PNG is not square?
We center it and pad with transparency so the icon canvas is square. If you want full control over framing, crop the PNG to a square in an image editor first.
Do I need both favicon.ico and PNG favicons?
For modern browsers, a single favicon.ico at the root is enough. If you want maximum control across Apple devices, add PNG icons with link rel='apple-touch-icon' too.
Will small sizes look fuzzy?
Detail is naturally limited at 16×16, but our resizer uses high-quality smoothing. For best small-size results, design with thicker strokes and bolder shapes in mind.
Is the ICO file standard?
Yes. The output uses the modern PNG-in-ICO format that every browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) and Windows supports. The file is fully spec-compliant.
